Capitals celebrate Christmas on a high note

December 19, 2011

Things will start to quiet down for the next week or so and teams take a break for the holidays. On Saturday night the Cowichan capitals played their last game before an 11 day break.

The team retains their lead in the standings after winning their game against Victoria Grizzlies. Heading into the break the Capitals are still in first place in the B.C. Hockey League’s Coastal Conference.

Coach Jim Ingram said the team could have taken an early holiday and gone easy, but they fought hard winning the game 4 to 2.

“I love how the boys responded, especially with Christmas break, that’s the last game, there’s a tendency to take it easy and I thought if anything we upped our intensity and really focused on that game and wanted to end this off properly and I was real proud of the boys, they did a great job.”

The team will be back on the ice Dec. 28, when they head top Langley to take on the Rivermen.
