Deer shot on Beverly St., Duncan

It was an unsettling sight for anyone watching on Beverly St. in Duncan Feb. 17 as police put down a deer that had been hit by a vehicle at around 6 p.m.

Duncan/North Cowichan RCMP confirm the police shot the deer to relieve it of its suffering and that the proper authorities disposed of the body.

It’s not clear how many reports authorities have had of animals being hit on Duncan roads; calls to the Conservation Office haven’t been returned.
