MLA thinks budget unhealthy

February 21, 2012

You can expect to pay higher premiums in the Medical Services Plan this year under the B.C. government's 2012 budget—something the MLA for Cowichan Valley, Bill Routley said isn't right.

“Ordinary British Columbians and seniors will be hit with a four per cent increase, yet another increase in MSP premiums. They’re gonna collect $87 million picking the pockets of ordinary citizens.”

MSP premiums have gone up 22 per cent in the last four years.

The B.C. government is also dealing with $2.5 billion deficit this year but is projecting a surplus in 2013.
