Future of tourism on board's shoulders?

February 22, 2012

Tourism in the valley could hinge on the Cowichan Valley Regional District board of directors when they vote Wednesday on whether to grant the Chamber of Commerce some $609,000 to open a new tourism centre.

The Duncan-Cowichan Chamber of Commerce has been promised some $750,000 from Island Coastal Economic Trust but that money is conditional on being able to match those funds.

The envisioned tourism centre on the lot of the B.C. Forest Discovery Centre would replace the current office, tucked away in a building in Duncan and difficult to find.
